A major railway incident took place on Monday morning after two bogies of the Pakistan Express derailed near Mubarakpur railway station in Bahawalpur district. Train services on the busy ML-1 route were suspended for several hours as a result of the incident.
According to railway officials, the derailment occurred at around 6:05 am in the Kalanchwala-Mubarakpur section, causing significant delays on both the up and down tracks. Fortunately, there were no casualties.

In the wake of the derailment, Pakistan Railways had formed a three-member investigation committee to find out the cause. Initial findings indicate instability or technical malfunction in the bogie suspension system.
In a related move, the CEO of Pakistan Railways ordered immediate inspection of all passenger coaches and major railway bridges across the country following another recent bridge collapse in Khanewal.
