Pakistan Reaffirms Anti-Corruption Commitment: President Zardari


ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari, on International Anti-Corruption Day, reaffirmed Pakistan’s resolve to eradicate corruption through strict accountability and transparent governance.


“Corruption undermines progress and trust,” he said. “This day reminds us of our collective duty to fight corruption, promote transparency, and uphold accountability.”


Zardari urged citizens and institutions to unite against corruption, emphasizing its role in building a stronger and fairer Pakistan.


According to a statement issued by the media cell of the Presidency on Sunday, President Asif Ali Zardari said that this event highlights the determination of the member countries of the United Nations Convention Against Corruption (UNCAC), including Pakistan, to eradicate it.  are engaged in ongoing efforts to   danger


  He said that corruption undermines public confidence, wastes vital resources and hinders socio-economic development.   "Today, Pakistan reiterates its commitment to eradicate corruption by implementing strict accountability measures and promoting transparency in governance," he said.


  He said that over the years, Pakistan has taken significant steps to align with international anti-corruption frameworks, including the UNCAC, and implemented a strong accountability system.   "However, much remains to be done, and we must continue to make every effort to eradicate the habit of corruption from our society," he said.


  The President said that the National Accountability Bureau (NAB), as the premier anti-corruption agency, plays a central role in investigating and prosecuting cases of corruption as well as raising public awareness about its ill effects.  does   He said that NAB has another important role to prevent corruption.


  Despite the important role of NAB, he said that the war against corruption cannot be won by one agency alone.   "The challenge is enormous, and its complexity requires all institutions of the state to make concerted efforts to reduce corruption and address all the root causes of corruption," he said.


  President Asif Ali Zardari, in line with this year's theme of the World Anti-Corruption Day, "Unifying Youth Against Corruption: Building Integrity for Tomorrow," said that it is important that every section of the society, especially the youth,  Civil society and citizens should unite to end it.   Corruption "They should actively participate in anti-corruption efforts, help foster a culture of accountability, and make suggestions to improve the anti-corruption framework. To create such a culture, our collective  Attitudinal change is also needed, where corruption will not be tolerated at any level.
